First in the News

First grade is in the middle of a very exciting project in music class. They are experiencing what it is like to write and record their own song! The students composed the music and wrote the lyrics (with a little help from Mr. Pendleton, the music teacher) to a song called "Spring".

After they wrote their song, Mr. Pendleton took them to the recording studio in Project HOME's After School Program (located just upstairs from CPS), where he showed them how to record music onto a computer. They sang their song into the microphone and listened to the playback until they got it just right.

Mr. Pendleton, who also works with Project HOME's After School Program, plans on enlisting the help of several local high schoolers involved in that program to add instrumentation to the track. Kindergarten is also working on a song they have written, "Morning". We hope to have both available for you to listen to on the web soon!

It's the best time of the year!
The flowers come up
