Only a mile away from CPS, the Philadelphia Museum of Art welcomes nearly a million visitors each year. And last week, the Pre-Kindergarten students became some of those lucky visitors. Students marveled at the beautiful building itself and were similarly excited to see what was inside. Everything from the elevators to the paintings to the friendly security guards was exciting. Our tour focused on paintings with flowers in them, including Vincent van Gogh’s Sunflowers. After touring the museum, students created their own still life masterpieces, which are now on display in our classroom. We wrapped up a great day with a picnic lunch in the Azalea Garden behind the museum.
