First Information Breakfast of the Year

11/5/2007

Friday, October 26th was an exciting day for the Community Partnership School. Whereas a typical day at CPS usually includes trips to the playground and the sound of music lessons, the school was instead host to numerous high-profile guests and a television news crew. The occasion was CPS’s Information Breakfast, a morning set aside for those interested in learning more about the school to hear Head of School Eric Jones speak, watch a performance by the students, and participate in classroom activities.

The guests at Friday’s event included many who had never seen the school, as well as several who are repeat visitors and have shown their dedication to the school’s cause in the past. Sonny Hill, founder of the Sonny Hill Community Involvement Basketball League, dropped by to meet the children and teachers of CPS. Alycia Lane of CBS and Veronica Griffin of FOX were both present, along with a CBS camera recording the event. Billy and Melanie King were also in attendance. Billy King, President and General Manager of the Philadelphia 76ers, has visited the school before as a volunteer, and he was able to catch up with the students he connected with during that time. His wife Melanie is an active member of the Development Committee at the Community Partnership School, and her commitment to the school has proven invaluable.

Everyone in attendance and all the school’s employees agreed that the first Information Breakfast of the year was a resounding success.
